Fall Semester Will Move Fast!

With the ever-changing academic environment, our goal is always to provide structure, consistency, and accountability. We do this by modeling optimism, resilience, and flexibility. That being said, we are stressing to students that this semester is going to move quickly. For many schools, the weeks are condensed and will require attention to detail, strong time management skills, and diligence. A typical semester is 16-17 weeks and many now will be 12 weeks. There is less time to make up work, and assignments will be closer together. Students also need to be aware of changing expectations. We want to stay on track!

Below are a few questions to consider for students and families:

  • What is the university policy for handling covid?

  • Do you have to report any symptoms daily?

  • If you come in contact with COVID, where can you get tested? On-campus? Off-Campus? How does insurance handle this?

  • If you come in contact with COVID and have to quarantine, does campus have a specific location for this? How will they handle the dorms versus individual apartments?

  • If you come in contact with COVID, who on campus do you need to alert/report to both before testing, after testing, and upon return to campus life?

  • If you come in contact with COVID, how will professors handle absences? Is it an individual basis? Is there a university policy?

  • Do you have extra masks with you? They are required on most college campuses and you will want to have extra.

  • In the case that the university closes again similar to March, what is your get off campus plan?
