Why Wellness for College Students?
College is a transition in every way and a time of personal growth.
Students find themselves in a new location, taking new courses, surrounded by new people and acclimating to a new routine. While all this is exciting, it can be overwhelming and taking care of yourself can become hard to prioritize. When students invest in their own self-care and well-being, all of their college experiences will feel richer. Students who invest in themselves are also more likely to succeed personally and academically.
Maintaining healthy well-being goes beyond avoiding getting sick. It is the idea that we should strive for balance in our lives. Achieving balance is an ongoing process. For college students, life balance may include juggling many varied, and often competing goals, including: completing your course work, studying while getting enough sleep, making time for physical activity, managing finances, making time to eat healthy food, maintaining a social network, getting involved in extracurriculars, managing stress and planning for the future.
Many college students could benefit from guidance when it comes to creating balance in their day-to-day routines and throughout the semester. The College Wellness Program can help your student show up as their best self by developing skills to make overall healthier choices, such as increasing physical movement, drinking adequate water, getting restful sleep, and more, so they can take advantage of all that college has to offer, be active in their community and efficiently manage their time.
